Delphine had an interesting cache of surprises today. Was the candy perhaps a gift to fellow Zipsters, or just a forgotten indulgence? I resisted to urge to rip open that bag and enjoy those delicious morsels. Will the next driver be so strong? Is it okay to leave small surprises for other drivers? This would be a fun idea. They would have to be nice surprises though, no trash allowed.

Not much of a find today, but the memory of Bramsen lives on. Whew Doggie, does this car smell musty!

March 29 2010

This was a good day for some interesting items. I have noticed the key in the arm rest storage before, and it puzzles me. Did someone bid their car farewell and use their zipcar for the ride home? How has it been riding around it this car for so long with out finding its way back to its owner? Does it now belong to this car? The mysteries one can face being a zipcar owner!

I'm a little behind on my posts here, sorry folks. It's not that there haven't been any interesting finds, it is just that I have been so busy driving that I haven't had time to post! On this day, Ilagan the Insight had a yard of goodies hiding within. See for yourself. Of course I replace all of this stuff except the obvious trash, hoping that the owners of this stuff will soon find it and take it home. I really do wonder though, are things like directions okay to leave in the glove box of a zipcar? One has to wonder about the safety of doing such a thing when it involves say, a friends house, but are the directions to Ikea okay?

February 27, 2010

What a day to visit a Conservative Christian Church Convention! Morici did the trick getting the dude to the place, and thanks to a CD found in the storage between the seats, time passed in a mellow state as we waited in our car for the beginning of the event. Nothing like a bright red car to make you stand out in a conservative crowd!

Today, the car was Mullett. The weather was a driving rain, and the errands were nothing exciting, just a trip to the grocery store. But what treasures should I find in my Zipcar? Nothing too obvious, just a few treasures tucked away in the glove box. Which makes me wonder... is it okay to leave things in your zipcar if you know that you will be using the car regularly? Things like Cd's or umbrellas? Directions to Ikea?

What I found in my Zipcar

Hi!

Welcome to What I Found In My Zipcar. Anyone who is a member with Zipcar is exposed to the driving rules constantly, whether reserving, driving or checking on the status of a car. The rules are based on consideration for other drivers:
Don't be late returning your car
Fill the tank if it is less than 1/4 full
Keep your Zipcar clean (No eating in Zipcars!)
Make sure you take all of your belongings with you.

Having been a member for a few months, and sharing the cars with various people whom I have never met, I am amused by what I find left in the cars. Sure you can call Zipcar and tattle on your fellow Zipsters but somehow that just seems wrong. They could face fines for all kinds of infringements and who wants to put that on their fellow car sharers? Instead I thought it would be interesting to post all of the amusing things people leave behind. If they are items of value, I believe they should be left in the car (Welding Goggles or lab samples anyone?). These things are after all, the property of someone else. Hopefully they will return to the car looking for them, and get them back. Do they really charge fines if you forget something? I'm not sure. By checking the car at the end of my reserve time, I always manage to take all of my belongings with me. But I have found lots of lost treasure in my few months of driving including:

Cupcake Wrappers, lots of Mike and Ikes spilled under the seats and bottles of half drunk Coke.
Wads of chewing gum
Unfinished cups of Coffee
Donut sprinkles and napkins from local donut store.
Sticky and stained seats from forbidden drinks being spilled.

Did I mention that there is no eating allowed in a Zipcar? If you are going to break the rules, at least make sure you hide all evidence of doing so!

Cool Welding Goggles
Eyeglass repair kit
Odd earring
Loose change
key to a SAAB
Broken ipod cases
Bike locks
Umbrellas
Backpacks
Lists
Directions to various places.

As of this week, I have decided to post photos of what I have found on a given day, just because I find it so interesting.
